In this document, it indicates that if you only want invoices to be emailed to one person and statements to another person, and no-one to receive both invoices and statements, then you can leave the E-mail address field blank on the customer: "...not compulsory ..."

But you cannot save the customer if you have ticked "E-mail Statements" and not entered an email address on the Contact Details tab.

Please can you advise how to achieve this?

Yes, I have to agree. Sorry, my mistake and I will correct the article.

If the E-mail Statements or E-mail Invoice option has been selected then Evolution forces you to enter an e-mail address in the E-mail field. 

My apologies for the confusion caused here.
