If you have any customised Sage Intelligence report layouts, first export them out of the Report Manager and keep the exported layout files (*._al) in a safe place to be imported after the upgrade (if still required)

Do I need a new license key from Sage for an upgrade or can I use my existing license / registration key?

Always a pleasure!

In some cases an upgrade (upgrade between versions e.g. Ver 10 to ver 11) may force a re-registration. 

But in some other cases (e.g. running a Build upgrade e.g. 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.3.0) it will not be required.

If you're forced to re-register (after hours), open the following link for an article that explains how to get a temporary registration code. This is to see you through untill you're able to call the Sage Registrations Department.
