300 People Report design - Sub reports source

Hi All.
I require help on how to add sub reports to the payslip in 300 people.

I am skilled in Crystal reports but the 300 people interface has me scratching my head.

When I add a sub report to the existing report there is no fields in the field list to choose from.
How does one get these fields to display or how does one link a database table/ category to this sub report to show that data?

When I try and add a source these are the option that pop up, but doesnt matter which one I select the sub report is still blank. I have tried opening existing sub reports to try and figure it out but I am at a loss.



I have gone through the training material and videos we had but they only cover basic report changes (like changing the format of a field or how to add a picture to your report)

any help on how to link the data to a sub report will be appreciated
