Description
Unable to login to web screens returns an error "HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component"

Cause
Portal setup has not completed or failure to connect to Portal database.

Resolution
Open Sage 300 Database Setup as an administrator.

Select Portal, enter in Microsoft SQL Server credentials and connection information. If connection is made to SQL Server, command line interface will appear and show LandLord schema updating Portal database. If LandLord schema does not appear, connection to sql server is being refused or there is insufficient permissions to perform sql script update.

If a user other than SQL Server system admin is used, try to use sa user and complete portal setup.

Hi Patty, I have done all of the above but I'm still getting the same error. Database is on another server and desktop version is running fine on both servers. For instance, server A has DB and application and everything is fine,. server B has application only and desktop version is running fine except for webscreens which returns the mentioned error. I can access server A webscreen from server B but not vice versa.

Can you help ?
