Sage 300 2023 with ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Driver

SUGGESTED

I have just installed Sage 300 2023 for a client and notices that it installs "ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Driver" which it uses by default with ODBC DSN. However, this driver does not connect with the Database Server and returns the following error message when testing the data source:

Attempting connection
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server SSL Provider
The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted
Microsoft ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server Client unable to establish connection
TESTS FAILED.

This results in Error 49153 when trying to connect to the company database.

When I create my own ODBC DSN and using the "SQL Server Native Client 11.0" driver, the test passes successfully. However, the same error 49153 is encountered when trying to test the Database Setup or even trying to login to the comapny database.

How do I rectify this problem? Is it right for Sage 300 to use the default "ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Driver"? Has Sage 300 stopped using "SQL Server Native Client 11.0" driver with ODBC DSNs?

    SUGGESTED

I just need to straighten the ODBC DSN issue alleged in my previous thread. It appears the Sage 300 2023 rightly installs and uses the "ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server". The trick here is to turn on the "Trust Server Certificate" option under System DSN configuration. It's either this or you select "Optional" for Connection Encryption. Thus, the "SQL Server Native Client 11.0" driver is no longer used with ODBC with version 2023.
