A customized document has to be renamed in the custom layout designer, you can open the layout in the designer, click on file and save as then change the name here.
Unfortunately, a layout cannot be renamed on the system company settings.

Thanks for your reply, but this does not do what I need - it does not rename the existing layout, it makes a duplicate under a new name. The old name is still in the system, now I have 2 of the same layouts with different names.

How do I delete / remove the old layouts, or rename these layouts (without saving as a duplicate layout).

Alternatively, how can I mark old layouts as INACTIVE so that they do not appear on the drop-down in Sage? I am trying to minimise the list of layouts so that the incorrect one is not selected.

There is no function to mark layouts as inactive.
We will log this as a suggestion for our development team to look into, however, at the moment, it is not possible.

Currently, there is no way of preventing the old layout name to show on the list. This means the old and the new layout file will show on the Layout list.
