Layouts are linked to customers/suppliers and documents, the only way to remove this is to select a different default layout for the Customer/Supplier and change the layout of every document that has this layout selected.

You should then be able to delete the layout thereafter.

I can change the layout after VAT periods are closed. Company settings are set up for the new layout, but we want to delete all the old one we dont use any more. 

So what can I do know ? 

We have the same issue. I have a very long list of report layouts that I can neither rename nor delete. Unfortunately it doesn't matter if you remove the layout from all settings in Sage, my experience is that once you have used the layout once, there is historical data attached to it and you cannot delete it 

My suggestion is to Create a new naming convention for the new layouts, possibly starting with date_ e.g. 2023_Customer-Tax-Invoice etc. and then only use these going forwards. But the old ones will still appear on the list of available reports.
