If you have already created the CSV file manually (or you are close to finalizing the file) then I would advise that you go ahead and submit the file.  Everyone needs to do what is best for their business and employees - and if you have the expertise to create the file manually then I would advise that you submit it as soon as you are comfortable with your file.  If the department returns the file you can always use the Payroll file.

Good day, just to confirm...the additional ETI for current ETI employees and the new ETI Employees (people from 30-65 years of age) will be incorporated in the file? Do i have to do the changes manually on Payroll? Also, say i have employees that have a passport and work permit, do they fall under this as well? Kind regards, Linda

Hi there, Only employees with a SA ID will be taken into account, just like the normal ETI rules.

I would like to know - the benefits received from UIF under the TERS claims, can we take that into account when calculating the ETI benefit under the new rules?  Many of my clients cannot pay more than R1500 each to their employees, but the UIF funding will make up the difference so that they will at lease receive the minimum wage.

Also - did you guys see the TERS is now an online application....

Just tried the online TERS application. It goes smoothly until they ask you to upload the bank statement, then you get an error message http status 404 ? Not found. I'm uploading a pdf. Any suggestions? Are they still working on it perhaps?

I don't think that you can take the TERS benefit into account for claiming ETI but I am open to correction.  ETI is based on taxable income and if TERS is non-taxable it would be excluded from the determination.

Good day,  will the update for the TERS CSV file still be available 15 April 2020?  I submitted a manual excel file on Thursday, 9 April 2020 and received an email yesterday, stating I need to resubmit a new file in a CSV format.  However, the excel template that is attached to the new email I received yesterday, does not provide the option to use the pipe separator as explained in the detailed instructions.  I am not sure which excel format to use in order to submit today so that I do not delay the process further while waiting for the update to be made available.  Can anyone advise me please.

Hi Cabac I changed the separator on my regional & language settings from the"," to the "|" and have saved the Excel as a CSV then opened in Notepad as advised and have now just submitted on the online portal. Confirms receipt but now we wait ….

Trust you are well. 

I work for a small company, we have been notified that we would not be earning any salaries, wages from the company for at least 3 months due to the lockdown and the company wont be able to generate any income, we have temporarily been laid off work and we will be claiming from the TERS fund.

How will I process the payroll for the 3 months in which we are not getting paid from the company but hopefully from the fund?

Any word from Sage on when the update will be released and how we can access it?

I honestly do not know why it takes hours and days for a response. As customers we pay large amounts for the Sage Pastel Payroll service. We have no direct line for support. We are asking relevant questions that is being left unanswered. We have noted that it is now possible to download the TERS file or the  Sage Business Cloud Payroll  customers. What about Sage Pastel Payroll Partner??? When will the update be released will it be of any help or should we cut our losses and do it yourself. It honestly feel like Sage is letting us down in a very difficult time. Not all of us are professional payroll administrators.
