Integration to Pastel PartnetIntegration

Just spent 25 minutes with support REF 17925467139

What a stupid system .. here is my scenario which Support tells me it is the design of the system and there is nothing that can be done about it?

A client running a large payroll (over 200 employees) with many different transaction types on a local Laptop with multi user Partner on a server sets up the integration to the Partner Ledger on a fortnightly basis (P:\MYDATA) using over 30 transaction types with code codes and job codes. This works fine until the user is not on site due to other commitments but processes the payroll offsite. A backup is made (say before roll over of period 12) and when rollover is done, before the next payroll is processed as the Laptop is no longer on site the Integration journal does not occur (not only does it not occur but the Integration Setup is removed from the payroll)

On return to site, the live data (now in Period 13) is backed up and the period 12 data before roll over is restored and rolled over to period 13 again and the Integration Journal is pushed through through to Pastel Partner.  The live period 13 data is now restored.  Then rolling over to period 14 the Integration has to be setup from scratch (what a stupid system). There does not seem to be any way of exporting or importing the Integration Layout so every time the user is not on site the Integration has to be setup again!

Is anyone else having this frustration as Support tell me there is nothing to be done in this regard (why wipe the setup on disconnected roll-over, why just don't process the journal, does this also imply when changing Partner Versions from V18 to V19, etc and the drive is re-mapped that this exercise needs to be completed again)  There appears to be no way to edit this integration file?

  • Good day Sean,

    Thank you for your post.

We have escalated this issue to our Development Department, and they are currently performing an investigation.  We will provide feedback as soon as is possible.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused, in the interim.

  • Good Morning Sean,

We got some feedback from the Dev team regarding your query.  As you explained the problem is caused by the fact that the laptop gets disconnected from the drive.

The integration information sits in the Config.dat file.

So you will have to copy this file from the server location to the laptop's C drive when they are working remotely and then copy it back to the file location once you are back in the office

    Hi Duarayne,

Just a little confused here.  Are you referring to the config.dat file that sits in the C:\Payroll directory?  There is no payroll installed on the server, just the Pastel Accounting product?

Am I presuming the config.dat should be copied to another location on the local machine and then back to the original location on the local machine once reconnected to the office network?

I have also found a temporary workaround in that we just tell the integration to integrate to V14 although the client is running V19 and the payroll journal is created.  We still need a better solution though.
