Issue with Sage Payroll Version 2024 Update 2 on a Server

Dear SAGE

I am writing to bring to your attention an issue that we have encountered after updating our Sage Payroll software to Version 2024 Update 2 on our server. As an IT expert overseeing the technical aspects of our software infrastructure, I believe it is important to provide you with detailed feedback to ensure the smooth functioning of your product in our environment.

Following the update, we encountered a popup message prompting us to create a new online account before we could proceed to work on payroll for connected services. While we followed this step diligently, a challenge arose when multiple users attempted to log into the server and access the payroll application simultaneously.

The specific issue we encountered manifested as a Run-time error '-2147467859 (800004005)': "Access is denied." This error effectively halted the functionality of Sage Payroll for all connected users. Further investigation revealed that Sage connected services were not running simultaneously on all server profiles, which caused the disruption in service.

  • To mitigate this issue and ensure the uninterrupted use of Sage Payroll, we implemented a temporary workaround:
  • We created a shortcut for Sage connected services within each individual user's profile on the server.
  • Users are now required to manually start the Sage connected services from their profiles before opening the Sage Payroll application.
  • Once this procedure is followed, the problem is resolved, and users can work with Sage Payroll without encountering any errors.

While this workaround has allowed us to continue using Sage Payroll, we believe that a more seamless and efficient solution should be available for multi-user server environments. It is essential for Sage Payroll to accommodate concurrent usage by multiple users without the need for manual interventions such as starting the connected services individually.

We kindly request that you consider addressing this issue in future updates or releases of Sage Payroll. Ensuring compatibility with multi-user server environments is crucial for the efficiency and productivity of our accounting and payroll processes.

If you require any additional information or would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. We value your partnership and are committed to working together to resolve this issue effectively.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to your response.
