The Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS) issued a notice stating that the new Lekgetho Live Tax System that was scheduled to go live on 1 April 2020 has been postponed until further notice.

The reason for the postponement is due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

This new online tax management and revenue collection system replaces the current Integrated Tax Management System (ITMS).

It is still unclear if the online ITW7A (monthly PAYE remittance) will be affected but once confirmed, it will be communicated.

It is mandatory for employers to submit monthly PAYE forms via the online system. BURS will only accept manual submissions for employers who employ less than 10 employees.
