Negative PAYE on February Payslip

SUGGESTED

An employee has gone on Maternity leave from February and will be receiving 2/3's of her usual salary while on leave.  Of course this reduced payment has resulted in a negative PAYE for her February pay and she is the only staff member that earns enough to have PAYE deducted so my total PAYE for February is a negative.  How do I recover this over payment of PAYE since I can't process a negative on the EMP201?

    Good day,

The answer that Danny and Jerina gave you is correct.

You will  need to zero out the PAYE in the period where it is a Negative PAYE.

To zero the negative tax (refund) on the employees payslip do the following:

Click on the plus next to deductions
    > Select additional tax
    > Enter the same tax value but as a positive value so that they can cancel each other out.

The employee will be able to claim the refund back from SARS when she does her Personal Returns.

    Regards,

Good day Shazi. Just a follow up on the negative tax types for VIP. Is the procedure still the same, where the additional tax is added and the same tax value but as a positive value is added to zero the tax?
