The payroll application verifies the tax number when captured on the Basic Company information screen (for Company) or Employee Infomration screen (for Employee) using the SARS verification method, thus it is not expected that the number provided by SARS to be incorrect.

For an employee, you can also use the SARS e@syFile application to capture and validate tax numbers.
