Converting Older Sage or Simply Accounting Files to Sage 50 2016

1 minute read time.

When converting an older Sage 50 or Simply Accounting file to Sage 50 2016 you may receive an error message like the following two that pops up:

Error: "This file was created with an obsolete version of Sage 50 and cannot be opened by this version. Use Sage 50 (release 2015.3) or earlier to open an update this file to a more recent version that you can open."

Error: "This file was created with Sage 50 (Release 2013.4 or earlier).  You can open this file if an earlier version of Sage 50 (release 2014.0 to 2015.3) is also installed."

You're receiving this error because the Sage 50 2016 requires the Sage 2015 program to be installed on your PC in order to convert these files.  If you don’t have the Sage 50 2015 program installed,  you can download it here. There is no need to activate or open the 2015 program.  Simply install it and reboot your PC once it has completed the installation. Once rebooted try the conversion of the older file again directly to Sage 50 2016
