What can Sage handle?

Posted By FormerMember

I am not the main bookkeeper here at our shop - a truck and trailer repair facility - but I am being told Sage (Simply Accounting) cannot handle the number of "projects" we have and the number of inventory items we have.  Is it true that Sage has limitations?  We are currently using a DOS based system and it makes it a pain to scan and send invoices, among other email/web based things we could be doing with ease if we used Sage for all aspects of our business.  We currently only use Sage for payroll.  Any insight on this would be great.  Thank you!

Sage 50 can easily handle 20,000 items and 1000 projects. The most important consideration in using inventory is to make sure to categorize the items into meaningful accounts and to start off with a correct balance. Twenty thousand items all assigned to one account would make it difficult to audit. The projects is a very basic mini income statement, can add budget to the project statements. Invoicing will be easy as pie with Sage, does a very good job of e-mailing invoice and keeping track of invoicing details.
