Hello Alex Kawabe,

The student version can only open files formatted for it and is not meant to be updated. You can access only the 2018.0 or 2019.0 install files at http://sage.com/ca/about-us/education. The sample company you mention that's formatted for 2018.1 would no longer be recognized by the student version. You could probably convert it to any trial of the regular Sage 50 install. Here's the 30 day trial link or you can access the regular 2020.1 full version download here, upon install you'll have the option to install as a trial if you don't have activation codes.

Again students and schools should avoid installing updates of their software. Also note that multiple version years of the software can coexist on your machine but you may have to manually access the version's folder and icon in order to launch the version you want.
