2020.2 Update

SUGGESTED

My software automatically installed the update on both my office desktop and my home desktop. When I try to open files it goes through the updating process and then says “Unable to open company file”. I have tried turning off all security systems, per Sage’s advice and reinstalling. This didn’t work on either computer. I need this resolved ASAP as now I can’t access any of my clients files.

    Hi Natalie,

It sounds like your company file could be corrupt.  If this is the case, you have two options:

    1) Call Sage technical support and they can perform a database repair from their end.  If you don't have a service subscription, I don't know how much it will cost you, but it might be the only way to get your company file back.

    2) Restore from a recent backup.  If you have a recent enough backup of your file, you could try restoring from a backup and see if that works.

Hopefully I've been able to help.  I hope one of these options works for you and you're able to resolve your issue.  Good luck.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

The only problem with that is it's not just one company file...it's ALL files (I've tried about 5 different client files now). I literally can't open anything, on either computer. I guess I'll call Tech Support when they open and hopefully they can help.

For these types of issues, you should also always check to see if you can open the sample file.  This will tell you if the program can run on your computer properly or not.  Going from 2020.1 to 2020.2 will require the upgrade of the sample file which will also tell you if the upgrade process works properly without any network issues (the sample file is located on your computer).

If it doesn't work, it could be firewall or antivirus issues or the program might not be installed correctly.

Having the exact same issue for all of my files as well.  Super frustrating.  Let me know if you found a fix.

I had a similar issue and Sage Support determined it was Norton 360 that does not play well with the upgrade. They deleted Norton and Sage 50C, then installed Sage 50C 2020.2 and reinstalled Norton and everything is working well. When I called on Tuesday morning I was the third one with the problem with Norton.

My problem is similar, but with Avast. I disabled Avast and tried to reinstall but get another weird error and , as mentioned above, there is poor technical support now. If they don't step up soon, a lot of clients will bolt to the competition.
