Changing the email address associated with the Sysadmin login

SUGGESTED

I am looking for a solution for changing the email address that is associated with the sysadmin login.  The email address is no longer current and the system will not let me change it.

Thank you

Hi, I saw and article dated Sept 2021 that makes it seem like it is possible to change the email for the sysadmin?  However, the directions are not working.   (save a copy of the file, unshare original, open copy, change email)  Does anyone know if it is possible?

Hi Trish, thanks for reaching out. Please see the steps on KB 105704 (to be updated for version 2022 shortly) on how to change the sysadmin Sage ID email address in the shared company (I assume the file is shared onto Remote Data Access?). It may depend on which version of the software you're using if you're trying to access the below:

    Resolution

Sage 50 2021.2 and later* (including version 2022)

    • Contact Customer Support

    Sage 50 2021.1

    1. Open the shared company in single-user mode, with the sysadmin user, and logged in with the file owner’s Sage account email address
    2. Go to File / Save a Copy. You will get a message saying: This copy will not be a shared company
    3. Click OK
    4. Select a location on your computer and give a name to this new file then click Save
    5. Go to File / Remote Data Access and click Stop Sharing. Then click Yes when asked if you want to continue
    6. Click OK when you get the confirmation that this company file is no longer shared
    7. Re-enter the sysadmin password
    8. Go to File / Open Company. Click Yes in the next message
    9. Select the “copy” file that you created in step 2 and 3 and open it
    10. Go to Setup / Set Up Users. Select the sysadmin user and click Modify User
    11. You will now be able to enter a different email address
    12. Click OK, then Close
    13. Go to File / Remote Data Access and click Share Company
    14. Click the Share button, then Get Started, then Yes, I’m the right person
    15. Log in with the new sysadmin’s Sage ID. Click Finish, then Save
    16. If you get an error message saying: Setup for Remote Data Access failed, close Sage 50, re-open the shared company, and go back to step 12
    17. After the company is shared again, the other users will have to download the newly shared file on their computer

Sage 50 2021.0 and earlier or if sysadmin credentials are lost

Thanks!  Yes, I have multiple files and they are all shared through remote data access.  (I have several company files like this)

I am using 2022.  I did find KB 105704 previous to reaching out, however, the steps do not seem to work.   On the copy file the Sysadmin email is still grey'd out.   I am not sure if it is because I am using 2022? will the steps be different for version 2022?

Thanks you have been very helpful.  There was a comment that I am assuming was deleted as I cannot see it anymore?  It told me to go to support info and re-connect.   This did work on the copy'd file!   So I was able to get all my files changed over to the new email address.
