Installing 2021 purchased product

I purchased Sage 50 Canadian at Staples last November as my subscription was coming due for my Sage Subscription and I wanted to move to a purchased product.  When I phoned to register it, I was told that I needed to keep my subscription until after I completed my T4 and other payroll procedures so talked me into going monthly until that was done.  So I contacted them again in Feb to cancel and today I was not able to use my program.  I thought that it would just automatically switch to the purchased one when the subscription finished. I did install it last November and went to the Sage Portal and registered the Staples product.  Today when the program would not work, I called and was told I no longer have support, and becuase I purchased it in November, I am past my 60 days for help. 

So I reinstalled from the DVD, which told me to first uninstall the previous copy of which I did, and then it installed.  But when I try to open it, I still get the message that I need to update my subscription and if I click past that I get this message:

This company file has been updated to a new file format and is now incompatible with this version of Sage 50 Accounting. You need tro update to the last version of Sage 50 so you can open this file.

Does anyone know how I can update it when I can't open it?
