Access for bookkeeper

Hello everyone,

I want to do bookkeeping for a friend who has his own business and uses Sage 50 Pro Accounting. I have seen some instructions on sharing the company file but it is not clear to me if I need to buy a license. Can I download Sage for free and access his company remotely with just him paying for the license? I don't take clients and I just want to help him out so I don't want to buy a license at this point.

The only way to share a Sage 50 file is through purchasing a copy of Sage 50 for your own installation and then using Remote Data Access. To use Sage 50 you must have it installed on whichever computer you are or will be using. If your friend is using the Premium version of Sage 50, which is highly unlikely for a small business it would be a two user version and could be installed on two computers. Again, you would still need to use Remote Data Access.
