Moving Sage 50 CA files with RDA sharing to new server location

Question

I have a client with several Sage 50 CA file sets installed (different corporations) and they are being migrated to a new server location. 
 
 Despite searching several times and reading in various categories, I am uncertain as to the process required. (There are at least FIVE different explanations of this on the Sage site....all for different, but not necessarily identified, versions....some CA, some UK...some just...unknown and referring to ACCDATA which Sage 50 CA does not have....what a mess!) 
 My general thought is this: 
 1. Back up files. 
 2. Remove RDA sharing (essentially returning original location to local-access only); re-back up as local files, test that RDA no longer works 
 3. Install Sage 50 CA 2023.2 in new server; copy data files to new location 
 4. Test for local-user only access to ensure files "work" and are intact, data integrity etc. 
 5. Re-enable shared RDA access with new invitations. 
 Is this correct?

Hi donhobs , Sorry for the confusion earlier. Your plan outlines a logical sequence of steps for moving your company data file to a new server Here's how to back up your data in Sage 50 Canada : Make sure you're in 'single user mode' under 'sysadmin.' To create a backup, make sure your company file in Sage 50 is set to offline mode (not shared via Remote Data Access). This setting is required for the backup process. You have two options for moving your files: Option 1: Once you have created a backup file, it can be restored using Sage 50 Canada software onto a server location. Decide if you want to use all the software features on the server. If yes, your admin computer can also share this file for remote access. This article, has Sage 50 installation steps. Option 2: Find your data by going to File > Properties . Move both the .sai file and .saj folder to the server's C: drive. This option doesn't require restore of the backup using Sage 50 on the server, so you can do an advanced install where only the connection manager shares the file on an intranet. Thanks for reaching out with this question. Apologies for the delayed response. Here's a blog on how to replace or re-share a Sage 50 CA company file for Remote Data Access. The steps should allow you to have an offline version of the database to move to a server location from where you can either share it via a private network for multiple users to access and or re-upload to RDA.
