Making a custom form the default form?

Hello,

New to Sage... Probably the answer is very simple but I simply can't figure it out: How do I make a custom form (such as estimate or invoice) the default form? I am unable to save the customized form in the default folder (it says I do not have permission even though I am both:  the only user and the admin). Therefore I have saved the forms in a separate folder but then I can only pull the standard forms from the dropdown list:

Is there a way to make my custom forms the default ones so they can be chosen from that list?

Help is very much appreciated!

  • The program terminology use refers to a custom form as the printed template.  Your image is showing a drop down that selects the data entry form.  They are not the same.  What you see on screen is not necessarily what you see on paper (WYSINAWIG not WYSIWIG).

The invoice is the only form that allows more than one template to be used by selecting from the Standard, Retail or Professional styles.  A printed template can be designed for each.  Once you post an invoice with a particular style, it will have that style saved with it so all reprints will also use the same style template.

The saving of the printed template to the default folder is mainly controlled by Windows now and because the default location is part of a folder called Program Files, the use of that folder for data files is not allowed.  A custom template is not provided by the program, it is provided by you so by default you can't store it where the program is stored.  Storing it in a location close to your data files will allow all users of the program to use the same template.

If you are talking about the column structure on the data entry form, you need to log in as sysadmin in single-user mode (if applicable), and make the changes.  The changes need to be made on each data entry form using the Customise Journal options.  Then all users should be able to see the data entry column structure.  This used to be a user setting but that was removed from the program years ago.

I'm not sure if this helps or not but if it doesn't, please explain your issue related to the data entry form vs. the printed form.
