Anyone here able to install Sage Simply Accounting Pro version 9.0 in windows 10?
If Yes how did you do it anything you tweak to make it running or added a software for it to run in Windows 10 environment?
Get new accounting software, or make sure you have good backups.
Cool suggest to me new accounting software that you can say it is proven and tested by you
I don't know your business. Ask your CPA.
Hi GMJAR,
As mentioned before in this track , this Sage Accpac Accounting Pro version 9.0 is not known and your updates do not describe the technology this solution is based on. It might have been built for an old version of Windows and MS Excel, etc. However you mentioned that it is still running in the server. I presume it is running without issues. So, it seems to me that a reasonable short term solution of contingency is to replicate the production environment on another server and keep updating the database on a hourly/daily basis.
As a long term solution, you need to think about the following topics:
- has this solution been updated to follow the changes in Windows, MS Office, Emails, etc ?
- has this solution been updated in terms of functionalities/features/compatibilities with business/accounting rules ?
- is it clear who is going to provide you with technical support in case of a serious problem or are you on your own ?
If the answers to those questions are not clear or negative then your client is in great risk. And you as well as the costs of keeping this environment up and running tend to increase a lot as the technologies evolve.
So, as Jay recommended, you better convince your client to move on . Yes, there is an initial cost of migrating to a new solution but in the long run it is worth it. I would even say, inevitable.
I work with SAGE solutions and others. It would not be elegant to mention here in this forum a solution that is not from SAGE so I say that maybe SAGE 50 should be considered.
A bit of history.
Simply Accounting was purchased by Sage well over two decades ago. It was a good product for individuals and very small businesses with very simple accounting needs. At the time, it was a lower priced, less sophisticated competitor to PeachTree, which Sage had also purchased. Both products competed with QuickBooks. Simply was more popular in Canada, whereas PeachTree was more popular in the US. Apparently, some genius at Sage decided that Simply would sell better with the name Accpac, of one of Sage's best selling (at the time) products, slapped onto the label. They did the same thing with yet another product, BPI, which was also phased out years ago. When the brilliant decision was made that numbers are better than names, Simply became "Sage 50 Canada". PeachTree became "Sage 50". The same inspired wisdom that gave us "Sage 300" and "Sage 300 CRE".
Simply Accounting, er, Sage 50 Canada, was phased out after version 9 was released in 2022. And that is why many people in the forum, apparently including the moderator who moved this post to the Sage 300 forum, did not know what this product was. Your program is a relic, in computer years.
This thread has now been moved to the correct forum, which is Sage 50 Canada, formerly known as Sage Simply Accounting (which at one time was owned by Accpac International before it was purchased by Sage). Needless to say, the version 9 of this software is 22 years old, and as many have mentioned on this thread, should probably be retired and upgraded to a much newer version where there won't be any issues with Windows 10 compatibility.
Thanks,
Derek

Is sage 50 the most modern solution now? Can it run in W10 and higher?
if we upgrade to higher version of sage would it be easy to transfer files from Sage 50 to let says Sage 300? Anyone experience that kind of upgrade?
simplyaccounting.com/keyreg does not exist? When I visited the site I am redirected to here
I now only need the keycode I have the S/N# my problem with the keycode is the person in charge is long resign and the penmanship is not clear any way to verify the keycode?
Guys any ideas?
In current versions, you can see the keycode under Help, About Simply Accounting, then hit the Support Info button. There might be something similar in version 9 but it's too long ago for me to remember if it was there.
It may be included with the CD as well.
I have the CD none here
Under Help
Under About
Anymore ideas?
Anyone here know email for support?
Is this from your installation that is currently working or the new installation? You should be looking at the installation that you have been using, not a new installation.
If this is the installation you have been using all along, then it looks unregistered and Sage no longer has or at least provides keycodes for expired software. I doubt it would be in the Customer Portal but you can try that. I don't know the web address of the portal but someone from Sage might be able to post it for you.
This is from the new installation for our contingency plan worst case scenario if the current installation is down...
Can both installation run at the same time with same keycode?
You will not find your keycode there. You must look at the live installation.
Can both installation run at the same time with same keycode?
You will have to look at the license requirements to fully determine if your situation allows multiple computers to run the program. If I recall correctly, Pro version 9 was a multi-user version and could be installed on two workstations.
Your sentence has a few errors. Here's a corrected version:
"Does anyone here know the email for Sage support? Perhaps they can assist me with the keycode matters."
Please note that the contact options available for Sage 50 Canada are at the following link on the Resource Centre:

Thanks,
Derek

That version of the software is very old and has not been supported for many, many years.
You can try sending an email to the Customer Portal team to see if they can assist further.

Derek
