Can’t open files in sage 50 pro

SUGGESTED

I downloaded a trial of sage 50 premium and opened a test company to try it out.
how can I continue to use sage 50 pro? When I went to open a previous file I used in pro it now opens in premium. I have a back up that I can hopefully still use  in pro version

    Hi  ,

Thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you need to uninstall the Sage 50 Premium version before reinstalling the trial version and selecting "Pro" during the setup.

Here are the steps for a complete uninstall which are crucial for reinstalling the trial:

    1. Back up your Sage 50 data to ensure you don't lose any important information.
    2. Uninstall Sage 50 via the Add or Remove Programs feature in Windows.
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. For an advanced uninstall:
      • Remove both MySQL ODBC connectors.
      • Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86) and delete or rename the Sage 50 Edition Version folder (e.g., Sage 50 Pro Accounting 2022).
      • Delete or rename the Winsim folder.
      • If unable to delete the Winsim folder, uninstall the Connection Manager and try again.
    5. In your Documents, back up the Simply Accounting\Backups folder to an external drive and then delete or rename all Sage and Simply Accounting folders.
    6. Delete or rename all Sage Software and Simply Accounting folders within C:\Users\Public\Public Documents.
    7. Using the Registry Editor (regedit), clean the registry. Be sure to back up the registry first for safety.
    8. Restart your computer again.

After completing these steps and or reaching out to Sage Support for additional guidance with the steps, you can revisit the Sage 50 Download Portal to install the latest version of Sage 50 and choose the Pro edition during the setup.

Please note that it's not possible to downgrade a file from Premium to Pro, so restoring a backup in the Pro edition is indeed your best option.

For a detailed guide and assistance with each step, refer to the advanced complete uninstall article on the Sage Knowledgebase: Sage 50 CA Advanced Uninstall Guide.

If this helps please mark it as verified :)

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi
