Can the Receivables Module be used as Point of Sale software?

SUGGESTED

Hi there,

I am very new to Sage and am still learning lots about it.  I recently purchased a company (motel and gift shop) that rings in its sales using an old cash register, with little to no way to track inventory, sales transactions, etc.  We have a bookkeeper who uses Sage for us and she mentioned that we should be able to use the Receivables module to record customer sales as they come to the counter.  This way we can track inventory as well as our cash/debit/credit in a much more efficient manner.

I've been looking into the 'Sales Invoice' and Sales Orders' options in the Receivables module, but neither seem quite appropriate for customers paying on the spot.  It also doesn't seem to have an option to accept credit.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use Sage 50 Pro as a Point of Sale option to record and accept payment as well as to track inventory purchased?  And if so, is there a document that explains how to do this?

Thank you so much!  Your help is much appreciated.
