Email set up

SUGGESTED

Newbie here,

New computer (Windows 10), backups complete etc, but I cannot for the life of me get my email set up to send invoices, purchase orders etc.

I use Outlook , I have it logged into windows live mail but was told I needed to go to the control panel -> user accounts -> Mail 32 bit and set it up through IMAP. After great difficulty I had it successfully connect; however, emailing from sage still does not work. Instead I get a lovely error message that states " An error occurred in resolving name. Return Code: 3 MAPI_E_LOGON_FAILURE"

What in the world do I have wrong? I have been trying to fix this for a week now and seriously haven't a clue what I did wrong or better yet, what I haven't done. Any help would be greatly appreciated

check out the suggestion for how to email using windows 10 and windows live mail on sage knowledge base here
    support.na.sage.com/.../viewdocument.do .

This should work. It appears you will have to save it to your desk top and then email as an attachment once you open windows live and attach it and then email it. I sort of did it that way for years until I got microsoft outlook email program.

Hi CKM if you need use outlook I would check make sure is not a click to run version outlook and it is mapi compliant then make sure windows is updated and setup as default program and apps email to outlook, and reboot computer.

    Jason:

The article that you have linked to refers to using Sage 50 EFT Direct, I see no mention of any support for web based e-mail integration. Is the Sage 50 EFT Direct something that will be integrated in Sage 50 CA 2016.3 when it is released or is this going to be a product that will need to be purchased?

    Bruce,

New email support is part of 2016.3. I haven't installed and tested it myself yet but it was part of the package just released this week.

Edit:  From the What's New in 2016.3 pdf

With regards to EFT, it is included in the installation files but to use it there is an additional fee starting at $260. per year. It is dependent upon the number of active employees you have. The first tier is for 1 to 15 active employees.

There are a number of different 'flavours' of Outlook.   The one you need is the '32 bit' version that comes with 32 bit Office.

If Open in Excel works in Sage 50, you most likely have the compatible 32 bit Office installed.

There are references to this error messages in the support forums back to 2008, so it's not likely an issue with the particular version of Sage 50.

At the risk of being Captain Obvious, I'd have to guess there's still something wrong with the settings for the default email client.  Possibly Outlook is not the default email client?
