Emailing from Sage has stopped working

SUGGESTED

Hi we use Sage 50 Can edition. just transferred everything to a new desk top. Issue cannot email Invoices from sage I get the following screen: An unknown error occurred connecting to SMTP server. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections.  As I am not familiar with SMTP I have searched through Sage Help and found nothing to help, as well as checking through my email but as I am not sure what I am looking for I am not getting anywhere.  Any help would be appreciated. and we use Outlook.com

    Hi Vance,

That hotfix is for workstation installed Outlook, and the SMTP system does not use anything outside of Sage 50 Canadian.

Anti-Malware programs may panic when seeing a program that is not an email software trying to send email and block them.

And, of course, there are always the building network firewalls, the internet provider and all that to deal with, too.

Have you tried installing an email client to test whether the SMTP settings work from that workstation?

Sorry for taking so long to reply as for emailing I am confused as to what you are suggesting, one thing that is different from our old computer is our security McAfee could it be a problem with that, email works fine just not through Sage.

By "Anti-Malware programs may panic when seeing a program that is not an email software trying to send email and block them"  I meant programs like McAfee tend to block programs like Sage 50.

If the email client works and is MAPI-compatible, it should work with Sage 50 if it's set up to go that route, and you shouldn't have to use SMTP at all.
