Auto-generate purchase order's.

Hey guy's,

So we finally added inventory to our system and we were hoping that by setting stock minimums we would be able to auto generate purchase order's.

I was chatting with the tech support and they told me its not possible with the Canadian edition, Is this true ? does anyone know of a way to do this or a add on module or something ?

Their must be an easier way to make purchase orders and receive inventory ?

    There is no feature to do this to my knowledge and I have been using the inventory module since 2010! You can generate reports that will tell you what needs to be re-ordered only if you have set up minimum values for each inventory item that you want to maintain in stock. There is no automatic reorder feature, although having the items set up does mean that you only have to enter the item number to have it populate the purchase order. Also keep in mind that the sell price must be maintained as it does not automatically update when the invoice cost changes, and you must be in single user mode to update the price lists in bulk! A big problem that I have with the price lists is that the price list update feature does not allow for each item to have different margins for the sell price. I have been asking for this feature since 2010, but it has fallen on deaf ears!

    You can generate a 'Quantity' report, filtered for quantity to order >0

    In Sage 50 'Quantum' there is a more advanced report titled 'Item Price Comparison'  (a confusing title, since it's a vendor cost report, and doesn't include a column for Selling Price)

    Some years ago, at various times, Sage and it's predecessors seemed to be gung-ho about combining the Peachtree (U.S., also sold in Canada), Line 50 (U.K. only) and Simply Accounting (U.S., Canada, international) into one mighty product for all markets.

    Ten years on, they've got their website, the boxes, and a few graphics done, and some Canadian-only features have been stripped out.

    Except for any 'third-party' addons, no, not in Sage 50 Canadian.
