Help with export and importing inventory data

SOLVED

We have just started using Sage 50 Canadian Premium and are implementing a new database for inventory.

The problem is that almost all inventory descriptions contain either an inches (" quotation mark) or feet (' apostrophe mark ) sign. I can get rid of the extra inches mark from importing within Excel with just a replace function but when I go to import I end up with a double inch mark.

Example:

How it should look - Oak Dowel 2" x 4' - Natural Finish

How it imports back in: Oak Dowel 2"" x 4' - Natural Finish

We have approximately 50000 items so not manually going in to change them. Slight smile

I'm sure we're not only one who has experienced this but Sage advisors couldn't really help.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Chris

    Hi Ottawa,

Yes, I've tried that already. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be contacting a local Sage partner tomorrow to see if they have any solutions. I have also seen a separate software company that does importing of data so I might contact them as well after talking to the Sage partner.

There has to be a simple answer to this as I can't see this as being an unique problem.
