Combine inventory items BOM?

We have items that almost always have other items sold with them. A flange with 6 studs and 6 nuts which are all individual items. Would like to create a new item "flangecomplete" that could be selected and all of these parts would be added.

Is this possible?

Thanks

In QuickBooks, yes, fairly easily - you can group a number of items, and later either add them to the invoice as one item or show the individual components.  The removal of the individual components from stock is automatic.

Sage 50 has 'Assemblies' and 'Bill of Materials', but you have to first set up, then manually record each time those parts have been 'kitted':

If you create a part item in Sage 50 that is a 'kit' of those parts, and add the components to the 'Bill of Materials' tab, you still won't be able to sell the 'FlangeComplete' item until you use Item Assembly to 'Build' one.

Also, in Sage 50 you can only show the 'kit' item on the invoice as one line - i.e. Filbert FlangeComplete with Grapple Grommet studs and nuts   $ 999.97

I hope that helps, please post back.

"Would like to create a new item "flangecomplete" that could be selected and all of these parts would be added"

BOM and Item Assembly would allow a person to perform the build process manually, so those options are good, except for the automatically adding to the invoice requirement.

Sage also has inventory item popups that you could set to display:

"Ask whether they need studs and nuts"

    "Stud is HDW STD-78x9-1/2"

    "Nut is NDW NUT-78XH"

But they display every #%$$^ place - purchase invoices, sales invoices, inventory adjustments, etc - so a lot of the popups can be annoying.

Thanks for your responses, think we will go with the inventory popup, will be the easiest and a reminder to add the studs and nuts. Hopefully not too annoying.
