Recreate a company file from a backup to run some reports.

I want to recreate a company file from a backup and run some reports, but I don't want to it to interfere with my current company file.

Do restore from a backup, save the file with a different company name delete it once I'm finished with it, and reopen my current company file?

    You have the correct idea. Make sure the restored company has a different file name and save it to a different location. I usually restore a file to the desktop so that it is not hard to find to delete when I am finished with it. Be sure you do not make any changes as they will not carry forward into the next years.

    If the report you require is from a year within the past six years you should be able to run the report without restoring the old file as the current data set includes the prior six years when using PRO and even more when in Premium or Quantum.

    The reports I need are some Payroll reports to make sure I have the correct information to send to the accountant for the T4s. Thank you very much.
