Recording Quarterly HST

SUGGESTED

I have Accounting start CA and used to have Sage Accounting 50.  I print out the amount owing for my quarterly HST but I cannot seem to record the amount I charged on HST sale and the HST paid on purchases in this new system for my quarterly payment to the Receiver General. I have the very basic system in Accounting Start.  It will not let me change the Chart of Accounts so I can apply my quarterly HST in my banking.  Do I need an upgrade of the software?

    Hi  ,

Thank you for reaching out. Apologies for the delayed response, it sounds like you're facing some limitations with recording your HST sales and purchases for your quarterly payments. With Sage Accounting Start CA, the ability to modify the Chart of Accounts is indeed more restricted compared to Sage 50. This could impact how you typically record and track your HST transactions.

Given your needs, especially with handling HST, it might be beneficial to consider an upgrade. Upgrading your software can provide you with more flexibility, such as the ability to customize your Chart of Accounts and better manage tax-related transactions.

To determine the best course of action and explore the features available in an upgraded version, I would recommend reviewing the comparison between different Sage products. You can find this under "Differences between Accounting Start, Accounting Standard, and Accounting Plus".

If you decide that an upgrade could be useful for your business, the steps to upgrade are outlined in the article "How to Upgrade from Sage Accounting Start to Sage Business Cloud Accounting."

Should you need more detailed assistance or wish to discuss the benefits of upgrading in relation to your business specifics, please don't hesitate to contact our customer support team, who would be more than happy to guide you through the process.

    Warm Regards,
    Erzsi
