First time importing problems

Trying to import about 15 contacts in an Excel file as a test using the CRM import function as I have a lot of contacts to import.

Got all the fields mapped, run the import and then it skips all the lines.

The error I am getting is:
"Error    Invalid Person Details                      20            Required Field(s) blank"
for each line.

As far as I can see, I have included all required fields shown as required on the entry screen: Last name, First Name, Address 1, City and State - and of course company.
This is according to the fields shown with asterisks, and the mapping as well.
Do I have to go through each and every field in Customization to see if there is something else required that is not showing here?
I have created users manually using only those 5 pieces of data plus the company.

Am I missing something? This should be that hard...

    try creating a new company from main menu so you will know what are the required fields. This most likely is caused by your own customization which make some other fields required.

    A new company, or a new person?
    These contacts are being imported into an existing company. I have only included the company name in the import, and it seems to find that as it is reporting "Hint Duplicate Company, used existing" on each line.
    As I noted, I have created new contacts (persons) using the 5 pieces of data I have included (and mapped) in the data.

    Since you are doing data upload for Company, you should create new company and there are required fields for both company and person so you knows what are they. The deduplication process will make sure you have Company Name and Person Last name to enable duplication so it will not create the same person within same company. If you have more then one person with the same last name, you can enable first name have reduplication as well. However, you may be doing correctly as the message is required field missing.     Deduplication is turned off to make importing "easier" as this is a trial environment.
    The company that I want to import contacts for already exists in CRM.
    The error I am getting seems to be suggesting that I am missing a Person field, not a Company field.
    Are you saying that if you are importing a person into an existing company, you need to use the required fields for both the company AND the person?
