This add-on was based on the MoneyConverter.com RSS feed so as this has been discontinued then that is your problem unfortunately.

A possible solution is to see try to find an equivalent RSS feed and re-write some of the files

With it being a 500 error, it could be a few different things, so I would suggest getting the actual error out.

That said, I installed the component, and I hit the error of:

msxml3.dll error '80072ee2'

The operation timed out

Putting a try catch around it, it spits out:

Gathering rates against base rate GBP for the ISO currencies in the CRM database

Loading live FX rates

There was a problem downloading the FX rates. This could be because the base currency (GBP) you are using could not be found, is not in ISO format or CRM could not connect to the remote server

I will take a bit more of a look to see if I can pin point where it fails, but I would first guess that the issue is with the connection to themoneyconverter.com

The component was with drawn because it used an RSS feed that ceased to be published.

The European Central Bank publishes an RSS feed that provides the latest rates and Fixer.io provides a JSON conversion of this feed. E.g.

http://api.fixer.io/latest

This may be a useful way of automating currency rate updates in Sage CRM.

Thanks for the feedback. I have created a console application that automatically updates the currency values based on Sage 300 values (CSCRD table). The value gets updated in CRM in the currency rate table. The issue I have is the value does not recalculate on my oppo screen for the amounts.

I realised that you have to refresh meta data Sys parms for the value to update. Any way I can add that to an console application to refresh a certain meta data? RefreshMeta('ColNames') works in asp but not .net.
