Top content of company A being showed in company B's record

Our salespeople require multiple browser tabs to be open on a permanent basis showing various CRM screens, but this is causing an issue where the company top content appears on the wrong company record when certain steps are followed:

1. A browser tab is open with the summary screen of company A

2. A second browser tab is opened and a communication/case/opportunity is created for company B

3. That new tab is closed and when the user goes to the communication/case/opportunity screen for company A the top content shown is for company B

Our salespeople are making calls throughout the day by clicking on the phone number in the top content and recording the communication, and need to switch back and forth between company records, and often end up calling the wrong company because the wrong data is displayed at the top.

Our Sage support company has replied with the below, but this is not an acceptable workaround as the error happens every time the above steps are followed, which means many times every day which greatly reduces efficiency.

"This has always been an issue when having either multiple tabs using CRM and also doing repetitive tasks. When the issue happens if you close all but one tab in the browser with CRM open and then click on a summery page or logout and back into CRM it will then regain the correct context for the top content."

Is there a solution?

    Hi Martin

Strictly speaking the use of multiple tabs in Sage CRM is not supported (yet).  We are adding pinned tabs from Sage CRM 2023 R2.

But having said that I can't reproduce what you have out lined.  In a demo system I started with the company 'Gatecom'.  I did a 'ctrl-click' on the company name in the TopContent to open Gatecom in a new browser tab.  In my first tab I navigated to a different company.  In the second Tab I created a new oppo for Gatecom.  Once saved I closed the tab.  But I as I move about I don't experience any confusion of the topcontent.

Hello, thank you for the reply.

Could you start with Gatecom's summary screen in a tab, right click SageCRM and open another CRM window in a new tab.

Navigate to a different company, create the oppo and close the tab.

Then in the first tab go to Gatecom's oppo screen and the top content for us (Chrome and Edge - Sage CRM 2022 R2) is incorrect.

This happens exactly the same if a case or communication.

What will Pinned Tabs entail and will it work with Chrome and Edge?

    Thank you.

Hi.  I see.  The context has got confused.  Sage CRM isn't designed for that Multiple Tab way of working but if that happens - then click the summary tab (this resets context to the original company) and then click the oppo list tab.  The topcontent will then be correct.

The new Pinned Tabs will work fine with Chrome/Edge or Firefox.  The Pinned Tabs will be readonly to allow a user to keep screens available for reference.

Ok thank you for the clarification.

This set up is not very helpful for salespeople making call after call and needing various screens all open at once when in a call e.g. stock search screen, company record, parent company record etc, then jumping to the next company record for the next call needing several windows open still.

Please could a request be put in for more development work to be done to allow multiple tabs in browsers to stay open (not just read only i.e. the new pinned tabs feature) as the current set up is not very efficient at all for certain types of companies.

    Many thanks.
