Would this be the correct path if I am just developing solutions in house? I don't plan on doing anything for other companies. It would be nice to receive the certification, but what I am really after is the knowledge and skill that comes along with the certification.

It depends on if you plan to modify the Sage 100 ERP source code directly or not.  If you need source code access, then this is the right path and you need to ask about the End-User with source program.

However, with the capabilities of Customizer Scripting, Business Object Interface, SData, etc. you may be able to accomplish what you need without the source code and certification.  You may want to look into taking some of the training classess offered by Sage University, particularly the Object Interface training.
