Is there a way I can create a UDF that displays our existing Ship Via Field. I know how to create a UDF it just the linking that confuses me.

No it is an already existing field. I would need to create a UDF that displays this field in the address tab.

There is no existing field named Ship Via.

Most definitely is a ShipVia field in sale order header.

Open the customizer and proceed as if you were going to add a UDF to the panel. When the field selection list appears (which by default shows only UDF's) click on the button in the lower left "SHOW ALL". Select ShipVia from the list. Per my experiment with this, it indicates that it must be removed from the PHEADER panel first (can't be in two places).

I don't think you can move stock fields from their home tab.

The idea that comes to mind would be a UDF and small post-validate script to copy over the value into your UDF.

Something like this should work, added via UDT/UDF maintenance. Triggers: Pre-write on the ShipVia column, and perhaps another on a Set Defaults event.
