Closing AP period in Sage 100

Our AP module period end was last performed in 6/30/2014 (fiscal year end). I tried to close 7/31/2014 and hit 'proceed' then ran all the listed report but when I went back to close the next period (8/31/2014), the screen still showed period ending 7/31/2014.

Why?

You might have just run the reports and not closed the period.

I don't know if just misunderstanding, but I'm paraphrasing to my understanding:
1. A/P period was 6/30/2014 (this is where I might be misinterpreting).
2. You did period end close (that would bring you to 7/31/2014 as you saw).
3. Next period end close would then take you to 8/31/2014.
