So there is a feature that seems to be included in CR 2011 that was not available in CR XI. It appears that we now have the ability to change the XML Schema for exporting from Crystal. The problem is that I can't figure out how to utilize it.
Before you say, "try the SAP site", I did. They very politely told me that since Sage uses an OEM version I should contact Sage for assistance. And Big Louie, before you suggest I create a case with Sage Support - I did. They politely told me I should contact SAP/Business Objects/Crystal Reports. So before my head starts spinning around like Linda Blair I thought I would post here [6]
If you would like to see for yourself, do the following:
- Preview a Crystal report - preferably one with data in it you would like to export to XML.
- Under File - Export - select Manage XML Exporting Formats...
- This looks promising, right?
- Click Add (at this point I should note that my client has given me a "schema.xsd" file which they say contains the format they need):
- And the last piece of the puzzle, I figure I'm in like Flynn, just point to my XSD file, right?
- Oooh, too bad! No XSD format, just XSL and XSLT.
The way I figure it there has to be a way to convert this XSD file into an XSL format, or something along those lines. I just can't find out how.
