Link Maintenance painfully slow

SOLVED

Every time I use Link Maintenance to relink paperless office files, this utility is super slow.

There has to be a better way to relink thousands of PDFs.  I have also tried the "move" button in the paperless office viewers.  It is also very slow.  This is very frustrating.  Does anyone have any ideas or workarounds for speeding up this process?

A private group (90-Minds) has a utility for member use, which makes this so much easier.

No, I cannot and will not share the utility... but mention it here as a way of saying that Sage could technically make re-linking Paperless much easier.

The big problem is that the Sage screen /  utility checks that each file exists, instead of just allowing text based find-and-replace without that processing overhead (which routinely crashes when just loading a large number of records... let alone re-linking).

Sage should really improve the processing speed of this utility.  This process takes way too long.

Brian, If this is the biggest problem EVERY time you install and upgrade, then consider where the paperless files are stored.  You comment sounds like you are storing the files UNDER the Sage version folder.  Consider moving paperless ABOVE the Sage version folder.  This eliminates the need to change the links every time.  You still have the new server issue.

Based on your profile (Sage Consultant), you may be eligible to join the 90Minds group.  There is an annual membership fee but if you are "waiting hours" only to have the process stop, gaining access to a utility that changes the links in minutes may be worth its weight in gold.  There are many other ways the fee provides an outstanding ROI.  As they say, "membership has its privileges"

    Perhaps I need to clarify.

This is a huge problem ONLY when a new server is involved, only because it takes forever to run the relink utility.

I never store the paperless files under/within the MAS90 folder.

Upgrades on existing servers are fine and do not require the paperless files to be relinked.

Thanks for the clarification on "Every time I install an upgrade......"  , it lead me down the wrong alley.  But you should consider the 90Minds group.  There is a reason why Sage Tech support recommends them for tough issues.
