Purchase UOM Case with No. of Each 3,400

Standard UOM EACH

PO came in with a Case of less than 3,400 so tried to change the UOM of the item to EACH so we could just enter the exact amount but received this message.

"this unit of measure is not convertible to the standard unit of measure for the current item"

Read a method of dividing the partial case qty by full case to get percent of a partial case  2,300 / 3,400 = .6764705.  So .6764705 x 3,400 = 2299.9997. People must receive partial cases all the time.  I just changed to Purchase UOM to EA and set the No. of EACH to 1 temporarily and then we did the PO Receipt of Goods Entry at the exact number.  Then I changed it back so the PO's can be done in cases.  There has to be a better way of handling this other than leaving them as purchasing them in the smallest unit possible.  Thanks for ideas or help.
