Locking out users when doing Maintenance

Hello,

Is there a way to lock users out of logging back in when doing Mth End or Maintenance, is there a Sage service that can be stopped after users are out of system. I know there is an auto logoff with a timer however I dont want to go in each user profile and set those fields hoping another way..

Drop a specially named text file INSTLOCK.TXT into the server's MAS90\Home folder and new connections will be blocked.

Correct. When logging in, the workstation software will check if that file is in the server's MAS90\Home folder. If present, an error is presented.

so nothing has to be in the txt file... just a file name instlock.txt??

what happens if people are still in? You still have to kick them out right?

Also while we're at it. Any thoughts on the shutdown all button in master console? i heard its not the best idea to use it

Correct, you still have to get users out. That text file only blocks new logins.

I never use the shutdown all... there are known issues with it. For Standard, there is no such functionality from within Sage 100 (...you have to stop things from Computer Management...). For Advanced / Premium, if users resist (or are gone for the day) I terminate processes using Master Console, one at a time.
