Sagepayments still no EMV card swiper

Stay away from Sage Payments.  EMV compliant readers were to start being used October 2015.  I have called 3 times since beginning of 2016 and give a date further out every time.  Just called today and was told Fall of 2016 now.  Way to go and staying compliant with the credit card regulations.

  • If anyone has an EMV card reader that is compatible with Sage please share it.

I had the impression that there were terminals available - www.sage.com/.../EMVTerminalWeb

Stand alone terminals are available, but not card swipers/dippers that work with Virtual Terminal or directly with Sage. The credit card regulations said they needed to be used as of October 2015. Was told they would be available November 2015, then told April 2016, then told May or June 2016 and now being told not until fall 2016. If had not kept being told they would be available soon I might have looked into a stand alone. Just frustrating that a business operates like that.

I talked to a tech from another credit card company that a client was using and asked about this. According to him, this is an industry problem, not just Sage.

  • Besides the EMV, we are on our second day of credit card processing being unavailable and creating duplicated charges. What would be the options for processing inside of Sage? Is there a processor that has EMV readers that work with a computer and that can reliably process? SPS told me not issues this am, had me reboot all of the computers in the place and then when it was not working, they told me, oh yeah we are having issues. Wednesday was the same. Lots of quadruple charges since they did not go through then they all went through anyways.

We deployed EMV terminals with our pharmacy software www.rx30.com and POS prior to Oct 2015. There was a hiccup on the EMV terminals and we had to have them reflashed by the supplier, but they have been around since 2015.

We are having the same issue. They really need to do a better job with the error messages. When it tells you that it was "Unable to communicate with Sage Exchange. Try again or contact a Sage 100 ERP Customer Support Representative." Why tell you to try again and not have something in place to stop duplicates. Customers only think that you are making the mistake. Sage payments will not contact the customer and let them know that it was their mistake.
  • Anyone have an update on this?!? Its now October 2017, so 2 years past the deadline & they are still not compliant. This is ridiculous!!

I need a valid USB chip card reader for clients. Thx

I was advised a couple of weeks ago that Sage has certified the chip readers and they are now available.

Not according to customer service or my sales rep yesterday. Now it's projected for December. Let's see if it actually happens this time.
