Sage 300 2014 AR Receipt Entry numbering

Hi Everyone,

I have a client running on Sage 300 2014 and is facing challenges on AR document numbering. The system's AR Receipt document auto-numbering sometimes skip the sequence by a random number hence distorting the trail. Can anyone assist on how I can solve this issue.

    Hi Brian,

    I haven't seen this skipping issue in AR Receipt auto numbering.

    Queries:

    • Does the client have the Greytrix Document Numbering Add-on installed and activated for this company?

    • Have you run integrity check on AR (fixes off at first)? Any messages on the setup or Receipt areas?
    • Does this happen in a copy / test / samdata company in that environment?
    • PU level? Latest for 2014 is PU5

      No mention of numbering issue fixes in the cumulative Product Updates, but Sage still recommends moving to the latest PU if they aren't interested in upgrading now.

    • Are all receipts the same type - eg Receipt? Or are there a mix including the other 4 types?
      Each type has its own separate numbering sequence, under AR Options / numbering.

    • Are there many concurrent users?  A busy system may create conflicts.

    • Are the workstations old with poor Sage speed / connectivity? This may create conflicts - especially relevant if it is specific users who see this issue, and not others.
    • Are workstations Windows 10 or 11? Sage 2014 isn't certified for this.
    • Are users creating AR documents via import or macros?
    • In AR Options / numbering, what is the length of the Receipt number?

    2014 is very old, well out of support and is not certified for current Windows servers, workstations (eg Win 10 is not certified) and SQL databases. A good argument for upgrading if the client is seeing anomalous behaviour.
