Sage 300 2017, MS SQL Server 2016

A customer moved their Sage database to a new SQL Sever.  User performance is dismal when they take the old server off-line, but it operates within acceptable parameters when the old server is online.  Any ideas?  What could be pointing to the old server, if anything?  The users are all connected via workstation setup.  Thank you.
