In Sage ERP 2018, is there any way to stop the Notes windows from automatically popping up when I enter an item number, etc, short of removing the feature? (i.e is there a registry or ini entry to modify its behaviour)
If you want to get rid of the notes, including what is stored in them and stop them from appearing then you need to delete the KN record in CSAPP, then delete all the records in DATADICT where the TABLENAME like 'KN%' and finally drop all tables where the name starts with KN. On my test system, this doesn't appear to have caused me any issues and so far, fingers crossed, the notes have finally disappeared.
Hi, can you please explain the steps involved to disable Notes? I do not know what is KN record or CSAPP. I also do not know how to access DATADICT.
It's done via sql. I'll dig out the script I wrote that does it and post it later. It's on my other machine
If you're not familiar with doing anything in SQL, then I would probably avoid doing this.
select * from CSAPP where SELECTOR = 'KN'
delete from CSAPP where SELECTOR = 'KN'
select * from DATADICT where TABLENAME like 'KN%'
delete from DATADICT where TABLENAME like 'KN%'
drop table KNNOTEH
drop table KNNTBLOB
drop table KNNTDIS
drop table KNSEQ

or the excellent Tairox FastDBTools program (a tool that IMO _should_ be used by all partners)

I'd agree regarding the Tairox program. It's an excellent product. The SDK module is fine, but we don't install that on customer's systems. The SQL script does the same as a deactivation.
