Crystal Reports version?

SOLVED

Hi - currently running Sage ACCPAC ERP v6, but upgrading to 2014 in the next month or so.

I currently have and use Crystal Reports 2008 (12.7.0.1983) to modify and create new reports.

I assume I will need a newer version for the 2014 product - but do they have backward compatibility now?

I recall in the past that you could NOT upgrade your Crystal Reports version, as it would screw up the ACCPAC reports if you opened and saved them as you could not save as a previous version.

you will be forced to use the new SAP viewer which will probably screw up all your reports. If you use sub-reports and export to excel, then you need to rebuild all your reports.

Also, you will need to go through all your reports and make sure none of them say "save data with report" otherwise they will crash.

There is also a lag from hitting print to loading your document (8-14 seconds).

If there is no advantage or requirement to upgrading Crystal Reports past 2008, then I guess there is no point. The only problem I have with it is the stupid registration prompt that comes up all the time and points to a bad URL so can't complete.
