What version are you using? Starting with version 7.5 you can add code the LostFocus event for the Salesperson field that loads your new field. Before version 7.5 there is no easy way to do this (that I am aware of).

so i've decided i want to use a label instead of a textbox. while using a textbox, the code was

form.controls("txtsperidfreightterms").text = freightterms

now using a label, the code is the same but it gives an error

form.controls("lblsperidfreightterms").text = freightterms

"object doesn't support this property or method"

is there a different way to update the text of a label?  

Try the Caption property - .caption = "hi there".

Sage City is probably the best but if I was looking for more general "what can I do with vbscript" then MSDN is a good place to start. It all depends on what you want to do.
