When using Novell Groupwise, we are not able to relay directly due to the fact that it seems MAS is trying to pass some sort of login/auth information to the server.   We have open relay from internal machines, and I have other programs using smtp no authentication emailing out just fine, but in the smtp logs when MAS attempts to send the email out it tries to connect, gives an AUTH LOGIN with no details then fails.
