You can't do this per se. Materials set as backflush in the routing are automatically issued to WIP for the work order if you post an upstream labor operation. For example, you could setup a labor operation in the routing called "Issue Material" which would issue any backflushed materials prior to that step based on the routing standards. Your Sage 500 partner may be able to automate this for you. I know that we've done this for at least one customer in the past that wanted to "superflush" materials to WIP when the work order was printed or otherwise released to production. This does help. Thank you. Another question. I can't find a way to flag material as QA in Maintain Items or Maintain Inventory. I would like to indicate that a part needs to be inspected after it is received.

There are some small work-arounds to this this but none of them really restrict inventory from being used. You might be interested in our Quality Management module for Sage 500. Here's a link to a recorded demo of the product: www.youtube.com/watch.

You could set up 2 bins - one for backflushing that would be the default in the inventory record and a 'QA' bin that the material would get received to. After QA testing, do a bin transfer.
